In order to obtain an insolvency permit it is a requirement that you must have passed all three papers of the Joint Insolvency Examinations Board, although the papers do not necessarily need to be sat or passed in one sitting. The examinations are held annually in November, often in two locations in Scotland. The examinations are designed to test the candidate's knowledge of the statutory and practical aspects of insolvency work across the various different procedures. The examinations are currently split into three papers, Paper 1 - Liquidations, Paper 2 - Administrations, CVAs and Receiverships and Paper 3 - Personal, each paper lasts 3.5 hours.
