  • Changes to the Information Service

As part of ICAS’ continuing work to provide relevant and high quality services to its members, a review has been undertaken of the Information Service.

As a result, a number of new products will be launched and some existing ones will be discontinued. Read more

    Services Exclusively for Members

Members have access to a range of databases including CCH Online, LexisNexis Butterworths Online and Factiva. These provide a variety of information from eJournals to engagement letters to tax and accountancy annuals to company information. The trained Information Service staff can search these on members' behalf and quickly retrieve relevant, high quality information, saving members time that could have been wasted carrying out internet searches for unreliable information.

Members can now keep up-to-date with their reading without leaving their desks with the new e-books collection. All titles can be read onscreen and many can also be downloaded and read off-line on laptop or many mobile devices. An A-Z list of the e-books is available and the collection will continue to grow.

    Services for Everyone

As well as providing a number of services exclusively for ICAS members, the Information Service is open to anyone with an interest in accountancy, taxation or related subjects. This covers ICAS students; members of other accountancy bodies; students or academics in accountancy or related fields; or members of the public. The qualified Information Service staff provide a wide range of services which are available to all users including:

    • Finding information on tax, accountancy, finance and other subjects
    • Answering enquiries on the history of ICAS
    • The Information Service additionally holds historical books and records off-site which may be of interest to academic researchers

Non-members are welcome to use the Information Service for reference purposes and can borrow books on production of valid ID and proof of address. However they cannot use any of the databases available to members.

Situated on the ground floor of CA House, 21 Haymarket Yards, Edinburgh EH12 5BH, the Information Service is open from 9.00am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday. Enquiries may be made in person, by telephone to +44 (0)131 347 0138, by e-mail to infoservice@icas.org.uk, or by fax to +44 (0)131 347 0105.
