  • At ICAS we are committed to serving all of our website visitors equally. We have therefore undertaken the following actions to ensure that all of our content is as accessible as possible to every user:

    • The standard font used throughout the site is Arial for easy legibility.

    • Wherever possible, we use text instead of graphics to reduce the download time of pages and to enhance usability.

    • No information is conveyed exclusively using colour. This means that, although we use colours to organise information there are also other, non-colour dependent, ways of accessing the information and navigating the website.

    • Our pages are designed so that they are without horizontal scrollbars when they are viewed at a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.

    • Our website has been tested using the following browsers to ensure cross-browser compatibility: Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari, Chrome, and Mozilla.
    • This site is accessible from mobile devices such as handhelds and tablets.
    • In order to ensure that people with visual or motor impairments could access our website content we commissioned an independent usability expert to carry out extensive tests on key areas of the website using JAWS 9.0 screen reading technology.

    • A link to details of how to contact us for further information offline is provided from every page.

    • Style of navigation (e.g. top menu, left hand menu) remains consistent throughout the website, with extra navigational aids added where required (e.g.top of page buttons, etc).

    • Throughout our website we have attempted to comply with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. This is specifically with regard to Priority 1 guidelines and, where possible, Priority 2 and 3 guidelines. Where individual features make use of functions that do not comply with the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines we have tried wherever possible to ensure that there are alternative routes provided to the information.

    • We are committed to a process of ongoing improvement and are working to ensure that all content is developed under the guidelines outlined above.

If you have difficulty accessing the site or have any comments or feedback on how we can improve your online experience, please do not hesitate to contact ICAS web development: web@icas.org.uk .
