It’s the time of year for good intentions and plans for the months to come. Here are some of my new year’s resolutions.
See opportunity in challenge
The eurozone crisis; UK economic woes and the risk of recession; signs of trouble ahead for China: many of last year’s worries have staked early claims for the limelight in 2012.
For our own profession, Michel Barnier’s proposals for audit reform represent the prospect of fundamental change. So, let’s engage constructively to ensure we can influence any future change and continue to provide a world-class service.
Build a community
Here at ICAS we are building a global community of CAs. We will engage with members, to listen to what you want, and let you know more about what we offer.
We are using our new website, social media and our online communities so that you can talk to us and to other members.
We are also building communities around the world so you can meet and share experiences with CAs in your area.
Learn lessons, then learn some more
From the financial crisis to simple Christmas over-indulgence, there are always lessons to learn. We in ICAS want to increase the number of students we attract to the CA qualification. In 2012 we will also have the first public offering of our Tax Qualification.
Now, more than ever, friends, colleagues and community have never been more important. We look forward to a great 2012 for you, your business and for the wider ICAS community.
