ICAS and EFRAG have outlined details of a research funding opportunity worth up to £25,000.
The joint ICAS-European Financial Reporting Advisory Group
(EFRAG) comprehensive literature review will look at the use of information by
capital providers.
In particular, the review will look at the information needs
of these providers, how they make use of
financial statements, and how important these statements are in their decision-making
processes.
“We want this review to inform future standard-setting
activities and we are pleased to be working with EFRAG on this important and
exciting project.” said Michelle Crickett, ICAS Director of Research. “We are
looking for research proposals which encompass English-language and
non-English-language literature, and which lay out clearly how the review will
be implemented.”
The area of financial reporting, and in particular tailoring
reports so that they provide all relevant and necessary information in an
accessible and useful form, is a subject about which much has been written and
discussed, including by ICAS.
“The aim of financial reporting is to satisfy users’ needs.”
said Crickett. “What we want is for this
review to identify and evaluate the existing evidence and determine what information
is being used by capital providers, and how it is being used.”
Anyone interested in applying for this funding should email
a short expression of interest together with summary CVs to:
research@icas.org.uk by 17 February this year.
This expression of interest should include a preliminary
