  • The ICAS Future of Assurance paper recommended that the auditor should provide an explicit opinion  that the management commentary in the annual report is ‘Balanced and Reasonable’. In response,  ICAS has produced a discussion paper entitled: ‘Balanced and Reasonable’: Considerations relating to the provision of positive assurance on management commentary. 

    A short, concise document which describes the benefits of a framework and provides guidance for preparers, auditors and regulators, and recommendations for standard setters. Published August 2012.

    ICAS represents a profession with many often competing interests but our overriding consideration must always be the public interest. This publication represents our vision of how to promote the trust in the capital markets that is so fundamental to that public interest. Published December 2010.

    This report has been issued by the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies. It provides guidance that is designed to be helpful to all parties involved in financing arrangements. 

    The Working Group concluded following debate, research and communciation that there is no benefit to be gained from a complete prohibition on auditors providing non-audit services to their listed clients. An overview of the debate, research and communication findings is included in the report. Published January 2010.
